I have 2 issues that drive me crazy:
1. Setting margins - I never get them to work right by just dragging the arrow
2. Auto formats - I try to shut them off, and seem to mess up my whole page, especially if I am taking work from 1 document and trying to insert into another where formating has already been done.

For question 1, if you double click the shaded part of the margin bars on top or on the sides, the page menu comes up. You can change margins, page orientation, and a lot of other things. You can also reach this page by clicking File:Page Setup. I don't have an answer for #2 yet. Hope this helps.
